Just looked into the USD to PKR history and it's honestly wild how much the Pakistani rupee has depreciated over the decades. Back in 1947 when Pakistan gained independence, 1 USD was just 3.31 PKR. Stayed pretty stable through the 1950s, but then things started shifting.

The real story kicks in from the 70s onwards. By 1972 it jumped to 11 PKR, and through the 80s-90s you could see the pressure building. The currency kept losing value year after year. Fast forward to 2000 and it was already at 51.90 PKR. Then the 2000s saw continuous depreciation - by 2008 it hit 81 PKR.

But the sharp decline really accelerated in recent years. 2018 saw 139 PKR, then 2019 jumped to 163. By 2020 we're at 168, and 2022 hit 240 PKR. In 2023 it went to 286, now hovering around 277 in 2024. That's roughly 84x weaker than 1947.

This USD to PKR exchange rate history basically tells the story of Pakistan's economic challenges - inflation, external pressures, currency crises. Pretty eye-opening when you see it laid out like this across 77 years.
