Cuban Foreign Minister: U.S. attacks on Cuba have escalated to dangerous levels
Cuba’s Foreign Minister Rodriguez stated on the 2nd that after significantly strengthening the economic blockade against Cuba, U.S. President Trump has issued new, clear, and direct threats of military invasion, raising the attack on Cuba to a dangerous level. Rodriguez said on social media that the Cuban people will not be intimidated, which was demonstrated in the large-scale May Day International Labor Day rally parade. The White House issued a statement on the 1st saying that Trump signed an executive order that day, citing “threats to U.S. national security and foreign policy” to intensify sanctions against Cuba. Trump also threatened on the same day that U.S. military forces would “take over Cuba” as they return from ending the Iran conflict. He stated, “On the way back from Iran, we will send a large aircraft carrier—perhaps the ‘Abraham Lincoln’—to Cuba.” Also on the 1st, May Day International Labor Day rallies and parades were held in multiple parts of Cuba, with many people taking to the streets to oppose U.S. sanctions and military threats against Cuba, expressing their stance to defend the homeland.
