I took a look at the January 2026 numbers and I have to say that the wealth concentration among the top 10 richest people in the world has reached truly impressive levels. It's not just about money; it's a reflection of how technology and artificial intelligence have completely rewritten the rules of the game.
Elon Musk dominates with a historic margin—726 billion dollars. It's an unprecedented figure in modern history. What’s striking is how his wealth is built on solid fundamentals: SpaceX continues to innovate in space, Starlink expands global connectivity, Tesla remains the main player in electric vehicles, and now also has growing influence in AI and neural technology.
After him, the list of the 10 richest people in the world reads like a map of American tech dominance. Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the co-founders of Google, together control nearly 520 billion. Jeff Bezos with Amazon and AWS remains an immense force. Then there’s Larry Ellison with his databases, Mark Zuckerberg with Meta, Bernard Arnault representing luxury, Steve Ballmer from Microsoft, Jensen Huang riding the wave of semiconductors and AI, and Warren Buffett closing the list with his value investing approach.
What fuels this expansion is quite clear if you look at where global capital is heading. Artificial intelligence is the main engine—companies controlling AI infrastructure are accumulating wealth at unprecedented speeds. Cloud computing continues to grow exponentially. The space sector, once science fiction, now generates real value. Semiconductors remain critical. And most importantly, U.S. tech companies maintain almost total dominance.
What’s interesting for market followers is that many of these fortunes are built on positions held for decades. It’s not short-term speculation—it’s the result of long-term bets that have paid off. And while the top 10 richest people in the world continue to consolidate their wealth through innovation and expansion, the gap with the rest continues to widen. It’s worth watching how these trends will influence markets in the coming years.
