Private organizations claim that over 1,400 civilians have been detained in Fashir city, western Sudan

On April 27th local time, the Sudan Civil Society Organization “Sudan Doctors Network” issued a statement saying that more than 1,400 civilians have been detained by armed groups in the city of El Fashir, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan. The statement indicated that from January to April this year, the Rapid Support Forces in El Fashir detained approximately 1,470 civilians, including 426 children and 370 women, and 22 medical personnel. In addition, 907 armed personnel from opposing factions were detained. The statement also mentioned that the detention centers are in poor conditions and lack clean water. Since February, cholera outbreaks have occurred in the detention centers, with weekly death tolls of about 5 to 10 people, and the total death toll has exceeded 300 people within two months.
