Yemen Coast Guard says a tanker was hijacked by armed forces off the country's coast
On May 2nd local time, the Yemen Coast Guard, which is under the Yemen government, issued a statement saying that this morning the organization received reports that a tanker named “M/T EUREKA” was hijacked by armed individuals off the coast of Shabwah Province in Yemen. The statement said that, according to preliminary information, unidentified armed personnel boarded the tanker and took control, then sailed it toward the Gulf of Aden, suspected of moving along the Somali coast. After the incident, the Yemen Coast Guard launched operations, dispatching two patrol boats from Aden and additional small patrol vessels from Shabwah to search and track. The statement said that the relevant operations are still ongoing. Meanwhile, Yemen has coordinated with international partners and relevant agencies operating in the Gulf of Aden. The location of the tanker has been confirmed, and tracking continues. (CCTV News)
