Recently, I needed to register on some overseas websites and discovered that the SMS verification platform is really a great tool. Instead of buying new SIM cards, it's better to use virtual numbers to receive verification codes, which is more convenient and protects privacy.

I’ve experienced some pitfalls myself, trying out several SMS verification platforms, some are painfully slow, and some don’t receive messages at all. Later, I summarized a few decent ones: SMS-Activate works the best, with verification codes arriving within 10 seconds most of the time, and it covers many countries; 5SIM has a user-friendly interface, clear API documentation, and works well for registering Google, Twitter, and others; for domestic apps, Xiaoniao SMS and Super Cloud SMS are quite stable, receiving messages in 5-20 seconds. There’s also Getsmscode, which is inexpensive and suitable for light users.

There are a few small details to pay attention to when using SMS verification platforms: some numbers are shared, which can easily trigger risk controls; verification codes may have delays, especially on less popular platforms; it’s best to prepare several numbers so you can switch quickly if one becomes invalid. My experience is that if you’re just testing an API, you can choose any number, but for stable registration on overseas sites, I recommend selecting platforms that support API, so you can operate in batches. Some platforms also support one-click number switching, which is really practical.

To put it simply, SMS verification platforms are just temporary phone number rentals. Don’t use them as your main number or for illegal activities—treat them as testing tools.
