Techub News reports that, according to Decrypt, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the United States announced new regulations prohibiting AI-generated performances and scripts from qualifying for Oscar consideration, with only performances by human actors and scripts created by humans eligible for awards, and performances must be approved by the actor themselves and officially credited. The new rules aim to address the rapid development of AI in Hollywood; previously, the organization maintained a neutral stance on AI. This clarification restricts the use of AI to modify or reproduce performances, requiring that they be performed by the living actor themselves. The rule update comes as the Screen Actors Guild warns of AI threatening employment, with some actors already taking legal action to protect their image rights.
