Golden Finance reports that on May 3rd, Warren Buffett, in an interview with reporters, compared the market to “a church with an attached casino,” to distinguish traditional value investing from the current hot trend of short-term options trading and the increasingly heated speculative atmosphere in prediction markets. He stated: “People can freely switch between the church and the casino. There are still more people in the ‘church’ than in the ‘casino,’ but the allure of the casino has become extremely strong. Buying or selling single-date options is neither investing nor speculation; essentially, it’s gambling.” Buffett bluntly said that the current nationwide “gambling mentality” has reached its peak.
