Just been reviewing some classic chart patterns and realized the Adam and Eve formation is something a lot of traders overlook. It's actually a solid reversal setup that can work in both bull and bear markets.

So here's how it works - you get two peaks or two valleys that form in a specific way. The first peak (Adam) sits higher than the second one (Eve), or if you're looking at a downtrend, the first valley goes deeper than the second. Thomas Bulkowski documented this in his pattern encyclopedia and found it has a pretty decent success rate for catching trend reversals.

The key to trading this formation is watching for the neckline break. That neckline connects the lowest points between Adam's peak and Eve's valley. Once price breaks through it, you get your signal. Break it upward and you're looking at a potential shift from downtrend to uptrend. Break it downward and the opposite happens.

I won't lie though - the Adam and Eve formation isn't a magic bullet. No pattern is. You'll get false signals sometimes, so you need to combine this with other technical tools. Don't just trade based on pattern recognition alone.

Here's what actually works when I'm using this setup: First, treat it as one piece of a bigger strategy, not your whole system. Second, always confirm with other indicators before entering. Third, wait for that neckline break - don't jump in early. Fourth, always set your stop loss before you even enter the trade. That's non-negotiable.

The Adam and Eve formation can give you reliable reversal signals if you respect the rules and don't force it. Just make sure you're combining it with solid risk management and other analysis tools. That's when you'll actually see consistent results.
