US Seizes Nearly $500M in Iranian Crypto Assets

US authorities have seized nearly $500 million in Iranian crypto assets, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. Bessent said the seizures are part of Operation Economic Fury, a campaign ordered by President Donald Trump in March 2025. Last week, OFAC sanctioned several Iran-linked crypto wallets, and Tether said it froze more than $344 million in USDT at the request of US authorities.
