German Chamber of Commerce in China Issues Statement on EU Commission's Exclusion of Chinese Enterprises Based on the Foreign Subsidies Regulation
The German-Chinese Chamber of Commerce issued a statement on the 1st regarding the European Commission’s exclusion of Chinese enterprises based on the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR). The statement said that recently, the European Commission announced a decision regarding the Lisbon metro project under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), requiring the replacement of subcontractors on the grounds that relevant Chinese-funded subcontracting enterprises are allegedly providing so-called “distorting subsidies.” The impact of this decision has clearly gone beyond a single tendering project, with demonstration and spillover effects. The German-Chinese Chamber of Commerce is deeply worried and concerned about the potential medium- and long-term negative impact this decision may have on Chinese-funded enterprises in Germany and across Europe.
