I can now broadly categorize altcoins into 8 types.

1. Large-cap liquidity altcoins: ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP, TRX, DOGE, ADA.
This group of altcoins is suitable for judging the market phase to use them, not necessarily for making profits—unless you have a very large amount of capital.
2. On-chain cash-flow types: AAVE, HYPE, UNI, PENDLE, JUP, GMX, AERO, LDO, SKY.
Tokens corresponding to a certain source of income, fees, trading volume, or protocol control rights—these are blue chips for small retail investors.
3. New public chains and high-FDV infrastructure: SUI, APT, TIA, SEI, ARB, OP, STRK, MANTA, ZK, BLAST, possibly also including the MONAD ecosystem.
With glamorous financing and a strong technical narrative, tokens that get listed on top exchanges right after issuance—and tokens with impressive TPS and other new technologies—are also the easiest to fall for.
4. AI + DePIN types: TAO, RENDER, AKT, FET/ASI, IO, AR, FIL, ICP.
This is currently the sector most favored by retail investors; it represents an AI-narrative premium in the crypto market.
5. RWA and stablecoin financial types: ONDO, ENA, SKY, CFG, PAXG, LINK.
Institutional narrative—suitable for players with a long cycle—but not every token can capture the RWA benefits.
6. Meme and attention assets: dogecoin native 、SHIB, PEPE, WIF, BONK, FLOKI, PUMP-related ecosystems.
A microscope for market sentiment; judging whether altcoins have reached the peak of the bull market based on MEME and animal coins.
7. Gaming, SocialFi, and consumer applications: IMX, RON, GALA, SAND, MANA, FRIEND-type, Farcaster/Base ecosystem coins—these are currently only suitable for speculation and for small circles to trade back and forth with each other.
8. Airdrop aftereffects: ARB, OP, STRK, ZK, EIGEN, and some Cosmos and modular ecosystem coins.
