I've recently been a bit annoyed by the MEV issue again, to put it simply, it's on-chain front-running: you think that confirming means you're in line, but someone behind you slips in a little "tip" and jumps right past you. The biggest impact is on short-term trades that chase after events; when slippage explodes, the mental state collapses halfway. Market makers/arbitrageurs are actually happy, since they already benefit from order sorting.
Seeing people shout "smart money is here" whenever there's a large on-chain transfer or a hot/cold wallet move on an exchange, I no longer get too excited. Who knows if it's just traffic diversion, testing, or feeding meat to front-runners... I set a rule for myself: during peak times and congestion, I’d rather do fewer trades than force my way in or chase that one second of "I might get it." First, pull myself out of the front-running game and live a bit longer.
