CryptoWorld News reports that Codex has recently launched an “Electronic Pet” feature. In practice, it’s an agent status floating window that supports AI custom generation. Users can raise an animated pet in the Codex desktop client by typing /pet in the editor to summon it. The pet floats as an overlay above other applications, displaying the current Codex thread status (running, waiting for input, under review) and a progress summary in real time. After switching windows, users don’t need to keep going back to Codex to check the agent’s running status. There are several built-in preset pets, and users can also use the hatch-pet skill to have the AI automatically generate custom pets based on the project, with attributes such as species, personality, rarity, and more.
