Bessent Says US Seized Nearly $500M in Iran-Linked Crypto Assets
Scott Bessent said the U.S. seized nearly $500 million in Iran-linked crypto assets under Operation Economic Fury. Bessent said President Donald Trump ordered the initiative in March 2025. Bessent said the U.S. is freezing bank accounts globally and extending sanctions to the pensions and overseas real estate of Iranian officials. Last week, Tether froze more than $344 million in USDT after the Treasury’s OFAC sanctioned Iran-linked crypto wallets.
