STORY: :: Anthropic’s CEO says that AI will surpass human intelligence in ‘a small number of years’:: New Delhi, India/February 19, 2026:: Dario Amodei, Anthropic CEO“My fundamental view is that AI has been on an exponential for the last 10 years, as part of a sort of Moore’s Law for intelligence, and that we are now well advanced on that curve, and there are only a small number of years left for AI models surpassing the cognitive capabilities of most humans for most things. We’re increasingly close to what I’ve called a country of geniuses in a data center, a set of AI agents that are more capable than most humans at most things and can coordinate at superhuman speed.”Amodei told the summit that AI development is approaching what he called “a country of geniuses in a data center” — AI agents more capable than most humans at most tasks that can coordinate at superhuman speeds. The CEO said his company wants to partner with India on testing and evaluating AI models for safety and security risks, following the approach of global and national AI security institutes established worldwide.Amodei’s comments came after Anthropic announced it has opened an office in Bengaluru, its second in Asia after Tokyo, and formed partnerships across enterprise, education and agriculture in India. The Amazon- and Google-backed company said India is the second-largest market for its Claude.ai service, with nearly half of usage consisting of computer and mathematical tasks including building applications and shipping software.
