Treasury, OCC and FDIC proposals set bank-grade rules for stablecoin issuers

Treasury, the OCC, and the FDIC are turning the GENIUS Act into implementing rules for payment stablecoins that cover AML, sanctions, reserves, redemption, custody, capital, liquidity, and risk management. The FDIC said the law will take effect on Jan. 18, 2027, or 120 days after final implementing rules are issued, if that date comes earlier.
