Hello! Tonight I want to talk to you about something we hear more and more often in crypto groups: altseason. If you're wondering why everyone has been talking about altseason lately and what the right moment is to move on altcoins, this might interest you.
So, what exactly is it? Altseason is that particular period in the market when altcoins start to really gain momentum, outperforming Bitcoin's performance. Simple: while Bitcoin remains the undisputed king, other coins like Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and many others begin to soar. It happens when Bitcoin's dominance declines and investors start shifting their funds from Bitcoin to these alternative projects. It’s the moment when the market heats up and everyone starts looking around.
But what actually happens during altseason? First, you'll see altcoin prices rise significantly. Traders look for opportunities everywhere, partnerships make headlines, and the community begins to hype. Trading volume explodes: more money in motion, more volatility, wild swings. Bitcoin usually takes a pause, maybe moves sideways or undergoes a small correction, while altcoins take center stage.
The atmosphere also shifts in terms of sentiment. People become more confident, start thinking that altcoins can really beat Bitcoin in terms of returns. Those who previously only held Bitcoin begin to diversify to seek higher profits. And then comes FOMO, the fear of missing out: as altcoins rise, more people join in, pushing prices even higher.
Now, what can you do if you're in an altseason phase? First, don’t keep everything in Bitcoin: consider diversifying into promising altcoins. Second, don’t wait for it to go to infinity: take profits as they grow because volatility is real. Third, stay informed about news and updates on your favorite projects.
One important thing: altseason doesn’t follow a fixed calendar. It depends entirely on how Bitcoin moves and the overall market conditions. Patience is essential.
Let’s look at the current numbers: Bitcoin is at 78.26K with +1.29% in the last 24 hours, Ethereum at 2.30K with +0.97%, Solana at 83.92 with +0.01%. We’re not in a true altseason phase yet, but it’s worth keeping an eye on how Bitcoin’s dominance evolves. If it starts to drop significantly, we might be facing an interesting opportunity.
What I recommend is to watch for signals: when you see Bitcoin’s dominance decline and altcoin volume increase, then you can say that altseason has arrived. Until then, it’s better to stay alert and ready to react. On Gate, you can monitor everything in real time, so take advantage of it to keep track of these movements.
