Elon Musk's $158.3 billion compensation is effectively zero

Golden Finance reports that on May 2, according to CCTV Finance, on April 30, Tesla disclosed in regulatory filing documents that Elon Musk’s total compensation for 2025 was 15.836 billion USD, which is 2.5 million times the median salary of the company’s regular employees. Although this figure is extremely astonishing, the company also disclosed multiple important additional notes at the same time. In the filings, Tesla stated that the total compensation for Musk that the company discloses each year may have a “major discrepancy” from his actual take-home value. Because Tesla did not meet any market value or operating performance assessment targets last year, Musk’s actual take-home compensation last year was zero.
