Trump's approval rating remains low as the Republican Party pushes to "redraw districts"
Republican governors of Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee stated on the 1st that they will promote redistricting favorable to their party in Congress.
The United States is scheduled to hold midterm elections in November, and public opinion analysis suggests that due to the Iran conflict causing rising oil prices and President Trump’s low approval ratings among Republicans, the GOP will face a “hard fight” to maintain its slim majority in the House of Representatives.
Before the latest statements from governors of states like Alabama, the U.S. Supreme Court on April 29 ruled that Louisiana’s 2024 redistricting based on racial factors to redraw a congressional district was unconstitutional.
This ruling is expected to give the Republicans a slight advantage in the “district map battle” against the Democrats.
Alabama is scheduled to hold primaries on May 19.
Governor Kay Ivey stated on the 1st that a special legislative session will be convened on the 4th to discuss delaying the primaries and redistricting.
