Lately, whenever the mainnet gets congested, I just want to pull out… but I can't bear the sense of security from “final settlement on the mainnet.”
My current compromise is pretty cowardly: small daily transactions and frequent operations are done on L2, anyway it's cheaper and smoother;
If I need to transfer a larger amount, or involve approvals/redeems that are irreversible, I’d rather spend a bit more on gas and do it slowly on the mainnet.
Whenever news of cross-chain bridge hacks comes out, I’m even less inclined to jump chains carelessly—less cross-chain, the better.
At most, I stick to official routes, paying the fee as if it’s a small price for peace of mind.
And about oracles occasionally reporting errors, with a bunch of people in the group shouting “wait for confirmation,” I also wait two or three blocks or look at on-chain data a bit more before confirming—less smooth, but more stable mentality.
Honestly, it’s: save money with L2, rely on the mainnet for security, and as for how to allocate… how do you usually choose?
