Whenever that debate about aliens visiting Earth comes up, a very practical question Elon Musk raised some time ago comes to mind. If alien encounters really happened, why are the videos on YouTube still blurry and of terrible quality?

Think about it: billions of people carry smartphones with decent cameras in their pockets. We should be seeing clear and abundant recordings of UFOs, right? But no. The videos seem deliberately low quality, as if someone is trying to keep everything blurry. Elon Musk and other skeptics point exactly to this – the lack of solid evidence is suspiciously convenient for those promoting conspiracy theories.

Now, there's another interesting point. Edward Snowden, that government whistleblower who had access to classified documents from the CIA, NSA, and military, gave an interview to Joe Rogan at the end of 2019. And do you know what he said? Even with all that privileged access, he didn’t find anything convincing about extraterrestrials on Earth. However – and here’s the intriguing part – Snowden admitted that "there’s probably something inexplicable out there."

The Pentagon, in turn, ended up releasing documents and videos showing pilots encountering unidentified flying objects. The agency acknowledges that these UFOs have extraterrestrial origins. So we have a somewhat contradictory situation: on one side, the lack of solid evidence; on the other, official admissions of unexplained phenomena.

Elon Musk and astronomers who studied millions of stars searching for signs of extraterrestrial life also found nothing concrete. The distances between planetary systems are so vast that an alien spaceship would arrive here with its crew completely dead. All of this assuming they could solve the absurd technical problems of such a journey.

In the end, the absence of proof doesn’t prove that nothing is happening. But it’s also not enough reason to believe there’s a big cover-up. It leaves that uncomfortable void between what we know and what’s really going on out there.
