Trading cryptocurrencies to make money? First, master your mindset, then remember these 8 practical tips
Core principle: Mindset determines success or failure; technology is just an aid.
1. Who is the boss? Bitcoin is the market indicator. Only strong fundamental coins like Ethereum can occasionally break away from BTC to form independent trends; altcoins almost always follow BTC’s lead.
2. The secret of USDT: USDT moves opposite to BTC. When USDT surges, be alert that BTC may drop; when BTC surges, it’s a good opportunity to buy USDT and lock in profits.
3. Midnight spikes: From 12 a.m. to 1 a.m., prices are prone to sudden surges or drops (spikes). Night owls in China can place very low buy orders and very high sell orders before bed; maybe you’ll wake up to a deal, commonly called “lying bricks.”
4. The two-hour golden window (6-8 a.m.): This is the key period to judge the day’s rise or fall.
· If prices keep falling from 0-6 a.m. and still fall from 6-8 a.m. → buy or add to your position, likely to rebound and rise that day.
· If prices keep rising from 0-6 a.m. and still rise from 6-8 a.m. → sell to take profits, likely to pull back that day.
5. 5 p.m. alert: Due to time zone differences, U.S. investors wake up and start working, causing market volatility. Many big rises or drops happen around this time; set stop-loss and take-profit orders in advance.
6. Black Friday: Although there have been a few coincidences of major drops on Fridays, it’s not a rule. Just keep an eye on news before the weekend, no need to panic excessively.
7. What to do if you’re trapped? As long as the coin has decent trading volume (not trash coins), don’t panic when it drops. Usually, it takes 3-4 days or up to a month to recover. If you have extra funds, buy in batches to lower your average cost; if not, hold patiently. The only exception: avoid “I coins” that are purely air coins.
8. Spot trading rule: Engage in spot trading, hold long-term + reduce trading frequency, and your returns will far surpass frequent short-term trades. Making money depends not on speed but on patience.
