UK Reform Party leader Farage accused of conflicts of interest, after receiving a £5 million donation and then promoting crypto tax reduction proposals.
Odaily Planet Daily News: The leader of the UK Reform Party, Nigel Farage, has been accused by the opposition party of having a conflict of interest. In 2024, he received a personal donation of 5 million pounds from crypto investor Christopher Harborne. Subsequently, in May 2025, the Reform Party proposed a draft regulation for the crypto industry, aiming to reduce the crypto transaction stamp duty from 24% to 10%, and proposed establishing a national Bitcoin reserve and lowering capital gains tax on crypto assets. Farage has admitted to receiving the aforementioned donation, and the Reform Party stated that policy making is unrelated to the donors. Additionally, Harborne donated another 12 million pounds to the party last year, and crypto businessman Ben Delo also donated 4 million pounds this year. Currently, Farage faces allegations of violating House of Commons rules, which could result in suspension of his MP status and trigger a by-election. (Financial Times)
