I've been looking for a reliable SMS verification platform recently.
I don't want to get a new SIM card but need temporary verification, so I started researching this area.
Honestly, I've stepped into quite a few pitfalls—some platforms are ridiculously slow, some don't receive messages at all.
Later, I summarized a few decent ones and want to share.
Actually, SMS verification platforms are just for renting virtual numbers, paying per use, with some also supporting monthly plans.
Unlike regular phone numbers, these numbers are mainly used to receive verification codes, covering many countries, suitable for registering overseas websites and testing interfaces.
Most importantly, they protect your privacy.
Among the platforms I've used, SMS-Activate responds the fastest, usually within 10 seconds, and covers all countries.
There's also 5SIM, which has a user-friendly interface, clear API documentation, and good stability.
If you're mainly using domestic number segments, Super Cloud SMS and Little Bird Verification are also quite good.
US numbers can receive messages in about 5-30 seconds, and domestic numbers are even faster.
Getsmscode is cheap, but sometimes delayed, suitable for light users.
When using SMS verification platforms, be aware of a few pitfalls.
First, numbers are divided into shared and dedicated; shared ones are more prone to risk control, so it's recommended to prepare several numbers for emergencies.
Second, some platforms may experience delays, especially for less common countries or apps.
In such cases, switching numbers or refreshing usually solves the problem.
Also, never use virtual numbers as long-term primary numbers; privacy and security can't be fully guaranteed.
My experience is, if you're just testing interfaces, any platform supporting API is enough.
But if you need stable registration on a specific overseas website, it's best to buy several numbers at once.
When a number becomes invalid, you can switch immediately.
Some platforms even support one-click number switching, which is very convenient.
When choosing an SMS verification platform, don't just go for the cheapest; reputation and activity level are very important to ensure a good verification experience.
