Remember when Nikolai Mushegian's death sparked one of the wildest debates in crypto? Still feels surreal thinking about it.

So back in October 2022, this 29-year-old co-founder of MakerDAO was found dead on Condado Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Hours before his body was discovered, Nikolai Mushegian had posted some intense claims on Twitter about CIA, Mossad, and alleged trafficking rings. He was warning people they were coming after him, talking about torture and frame jobs. Pretty heavy stuff.

The official story from local authorities was straightforward enough - no signs of foul play, just a small head wound and the beach's dangerous currents. Condado Beach has a reputation for drownings, so that part checked out. But honestly? The timing hit different. The tweets, the discovery hours later, all of it.

People close to him painted a complicated picture. Brilliant guy, no question, but he'd been dealing with serious mental health struggles. Some figured, including crypto figure Brock Pierce, that it might've been self-inflicted. Others weren't so sure. The crypto community went full detective mode, questioning everything about the sequence of events.

Years later and Nikolai Mushegian's death is still this lingering question mark in the community. Whether it was what authorities concluded or something more - that's still being debated. Sometimes the truth just stays blurry, you know?
