UK Considers Slowing Digital Pound Development

The UK Treasury and the Bank of England are discussing a slower path for the digital pound, and a final decision once expected this summer is now likely to be postponed. Officials are weighing whether private-sector tools such as tokenized deposits already provide fast and affordable payments inside the existing banking system.
