BlockBeats News, May 2nd, Iran has submitted a new proposal to Washington aimed at ending the war, showing signs of compromise and seeking to restart negotiations to break the deadlock that is heavily damaging its economy. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Iran’s new proposal brings it a step closer to the United States: it suggests discussing Tehran’s conditions for opening the Strait of Hormuz alongside the U.S. commitment to cease attacks and lift the blockade on Iranian ports, at the same time.

Previously, Iran had demanded that the U.S. lift the blockade as a prerequisite for opening negotiations, and requested that the U.S. first agree on terms to end the war before discussing future management of the strait and nuclear plans. The sources also said that the new proposal later proposed discussing issues related to Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for U.S. sanctions relief. Iran has told mediators that if Washington is open to this new proposal, Iran is prepared to hold talks in Pakistan early next week. (The Wall Street Journal)
