MGM Grand Buffet to shut down after 33 years

Abstract generation in progress

The MGM Grand Buffet in Las Vegas is scheduled to permanently close on May 31, 2026, after 33 years of operation. This closure reflects a broader trend in Las Vegas where resorts are moving away from traditional all-you-can-eat buffets, which were once loss leaders to attract gamblers, towards higher-end dining experiences. The change leaves only seven traditional buffets on the Las Vegas Strip, down from approximately 35 in 2000, and signals a shift in the region’s hospitality model.
