“May Day” holiday’s first day, the whole country experienced a peak in holiday travel, with a significant increase in road traffic flow, concentrated vehicle flow around scenic spots, and some sections of highways heading out of the city in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Chengdu-Chongqing and other areas experiencing congestion and slow traffic. Public security traffic management departments across the country actively responded to the severe challenges brought by the large-scale holiday traffic flow to safety and smoothness, conducted early analysis and assessment, formulated plans and contingency measures, strengthened duty deployment, maintained close coordination and linkage, maximized the deployment of police forces and equipment on the roads, strictly investigated prominent traffic violations, enhanced organization, guidance, and control, widely promoted warning alerts, and fully served to ensure the safety and smooth travel of the public during the holiday. As of 6 p.m. on the first day of the holiday, the overall road traffic safety situation nationwide remained stable, with no reports of major road traffic accidents resulting in five or more deaths.
