I tried once, as soon as the hot spots started to rise I got itchy and jumped into a certain ecosystem task, only to find halfway through that everyone's attention was already on the next narrative, liquidity was incredibly thin, and to withdraw I had to go through two more steps, with fees adding up to more than what I earned... Basically, I was just being led by the "hype."
Now I set a silly rule for myself: don't act immediately when I see a hot topic, wait for one round of confirmation first. Recently, there have been cross-chain bridge hacks and oracle price feed glitches, and a bunch of people in the group are saying "wait for confirmation." I actually think this consensus is quite lifesaving — at least it allows me to see the security details, bridge routing, and arrival times clearly. Anyway, the hype will rotate, I won't chase the first wave, and that way I can avoid getting cut a few times.
