Lately, I've been looking at IBC / various messaging / bridges, and the more I look, the more I feel that cross-chain isn't simply "pressing a button," but rather trusting a series of components: the source chain must not have any issues, the verification/relay must not go offline, the target chain must correctly recognize the transaction, plus the bridge's own contracts and permissions must not be tampered with... Any loose link in the chain could turn into "assets sleeping on the road."
Hardware wallets have been out of stock recently, and phishing links are everywhere. I’ve become more cautious: if I can avoid cross-chain, I avoid it; if I must cross, I do small amounts multiple times, testing the waters first, confirming the funds arrive before proceeding. Security isn’t innate; it’s a habit, something you develop slowly. I’m a slow-cooker type who’d rather earn a little less than risk losing sleep. That’s all for now.
