April DeFi Exploits Hit Record 28 Incidents With $635.2M Stolen

April logged 28 DeFi and crypto infrastructure exploits totaling $635.2 million, a record monthly incident count and about four times the $167 million stolen in the first quarter. DefiLlama recorded the previous monthly peak at 15 incidents one month earlier. The $293 million Kelp DAO bridge exploit and the $285 million Drift Protocol drain accounted for $578 million, or 91%, of the monthly total. TRM Labs said infrastructure-level compromises drove the biggest losses rather than smart contract bugs.
