PI NETWORK ACTIVATES PROTOCOL 22 – READY FOR SMART CONTRACT ON 5/11

Pi Network officially activated Protocol 22 on April 27, 2026, marking a significant backend upgrade aimed at improving scalability and preparing for advanced features in the near future.

This upgrade is built on Stellar Core 22, requiring all nodes in the network to update to version 0.5.4. Nodes that do not upgrade will be disconnected, indicating this is a mandatory synchronization step to ensure the entire system operates stably.

The most notable point is that this move is seen as a preparation for deploying smart contracts scheduled for May 11. If successful, it will be a major milestone bringing Pi Network closer to building a real-world application ecosystem, rather than just mining and token accumulation as before.

However, the market is still watching to see if Pi Network can effectively deploy smart contracts, as this is a key factor determining the project's long-term value. If successful, Pi could enter a new development phase; conversely, if delays continue or expectations are not met, community trust could be significantly affected.
