I'm listening to everyone talk about some revolution in banking — about a quantum financial system that would wipe out SWIFT and eliminate corruption in the entire banking world. It sounds interesting, but honestly, I haven't been able to find anything tangible to support the idea that QFS actually exists or has been implemented somewhere.

So how does it actually work? The theory is that this quantum financial system would use artificial intelligence and quantum computing to process all financial transactions and do away with current systems like SWIFT. Nice vision, but the reality is a bit different.

What interests me more, though, is what’s happening right now. According to the CBDC Tracker, I look at what individual countries are doing, and I see that almost all are working on some form of central bank digital currency. That’s a concrete step happening now, here, not somewhere in the future. QFS? We don’t have a timeline for that yet, and it’s hard to tell if any institutions are actually working on practical applications of such a system.

But here’s an interesting thing — financial institutions are working on individual components of what we might call the future of finance. Banks are building their own quantum computer systems, deploying AI models, and using blockchain to enhance security. It’s not exactly the QFS being talked about, but it’s heading in a similar direction.

Whether this quantum financial system will ever materialize is the question. But what’s happening right now is interesting in itself — better computing power, more advanced data analysis, higher security, improved modeling. Traditional finance faces challenges, and these new systems, potentially built around cryptocurrencies, are emerging faster than I expected. The coming years will be interesting in this regard.
