Today I noticed the funding rate again, and it felt a little ridiculous—like two little voices were arguing in my head: one said, “Set up a counterparty—everyone has crowded to one side,” and the other said, “Don’t act clever; dodging volatility is the real skill to survive.” I thought I’d already cultivated myself to just close the app when I see extremes, but my hand still clicked into the order page… and then, silently, I closed it again. I even wrote two lines of notes to pretend I was being very restrained.

Now all these re-stakes/shared security/yield stacking things are getting blasted as “copycat,” and honestly I get that flavor too: the returns look tempting, but when they stack layer upon layer, one gust of wind and everything starts wobbling together. When the rates go to extremes, it feels more like an emotional amplifier. To be frank, opportunities aren’t the problem—what’s lacking is not getting skewered and bursting from a single sharp move. Anyway, today I chose to hide and wait until the market has shouted itself hoarse before I act.
