MoonPay Launches AI Agent-Specific Stablecoin Debit Card 'MoonAgents Card' on Mastercard Network
According to monitoring by Dongcha Beating, MoonPay has launched the ‘MoonAgents Card’, a stablecoin debit card based on the Mastercard network, specifically designed for AI agents, allowing direct spending from self-custodied wallets on-chain. This virtual card, issued through Monavate in collaboration with Exodus Wallet, can convert stablecoins to fiat currency in real-time for payments to online merchants globally that accept Mastercard, without the need to preload funds or transfer assets off-chain. In case of transaction failure, funds are immediately returned to the wallet, and custody of the wallet remains unchanged. The CEO of MoonPay stated that this addresses the previous pain point of AI agents being unable to make purchases at merchants. The card is currently available in the UK and Latin America via MoonPay CLI, with a launch planned for the US and EU (pending KYC completion). This move targets the trend of AI agents increasingly using cryptocurrencies for transactions in the future.
