Recently, I often need to register for some overseas websites or test SMS interfaces. Buying new SIM cards is too troublesome, so I started using SMS verification platforms. To be honest, I ran into quite a few pitfalls at first—some platforms didn't receive messages, others had delays of half a day. Later, I found a few that work pretty well.
SMS verification platforms basically provide virtual numbers to receive verification codes, which is very convenient for protecting privacy and testing accounts. You don't need to occupy a real number long-term; just use it temporarily and then discard it. I tested five platforms myself, and I feel that SMS-Activate and 5SIM offer the most stable overall performance, with verification codes arriving within about 10 seconds and covering many countries. If you're mainly using it domestically, Super Cloud SMS and Xiao Niao Verification also respond quickly, with US number segments usually receiving a reply within 30 seconds.
Verification platforms generally charge per use, but some also offer monthly or number packages. My experience is that if you're just testing interfaces temporarily, choosing any platform that supports API is enough. But if you need stable registration on a specific website, it's better to buy several numbers at once so you can switch quickly if one becomes invalid. Some platforms also support one-click number switching, which is especially practical and saves a lot of trouble.
When using SMS verification, you should also be aware that some numbers are shared and may have been used by others; verification codes can sometimes be delayed, especially for less common countries or apps; and some websites may directly flag virtual numbers as risky. If you don't receive a message, switching to a number from another country or refreshing usually solves the problem. Overall, choosing a reputable and active SMS verification platform can protect your privacy and reduce many issues.
