CryptoWorld News: The U.S. Department of Defense has expanded its push in artificial intelligence by signing agreements with several major technology companies to deploy advanced AI systems in classified military networks. According to a report released on Friday, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Reflection AI, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have all signed agreements to provide operational capabilities. The Department of Defense said these agreements accelerate the transition to building U.S. armed forces into an AI-centered combat force. Department officials said the agreement with AWS was finalized later on Thursday evening, showing that negotiations continued through the final stage. The Department of Defense is looking for private-sector partners to replace systems developed by Anthropic, especially its Claude model. Although the Department of Defense is still interested in its own systems, disputes with Anthropic have intensified, and the department previously listed the company as a “supply chain risk.” Department officials insist there are no plans to deploy AI to conduct large-scale surveillance of U.S. citizens, emphasizing that “any legitimate use” of artificial intelligence should remain available to government agencies under these agreements.
