Yangtze River Delta Railways have completed over 1 million TEUs of sea-rail intermodal transport by 2026.
Reporters learned from China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Shanghai Railway Group) that as of April 25, the Yangtze River Delta Railway’s sea-rail combined transport had completed 1.01M TEUs in 2026, an increase of 11.3% year-on-year. In recent years, Shanghai Railway Group has been deeply promoting the construction of a modern railway logistics system, focusing on strengthening freight transportation capacity, optimizing the logistics product system, improving hub throughput efficiency, further building an efficient logistics network, and enhancing multimodal transport service capabilities. This has helped regional enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency, stabilize and smooth the industrial and supply chains, and sustain positive growth in foreign trade exports. Since 2026, four railway logistics hubs have been put into operation, including the Taizhou West Railway Logistics Base and the Ningjin Railway Xinchang North Station, and seven new sea-rail combined transport train lines have been added, with 24 other sea-rail lines optimized and adjusted. Chen Songdi, Manager of the Multimodal Transport Department of the Logistics Business Division of Shanghai Railway Group, said that after the train schedule adjustment in the second quarter of 2026, the supply capacity of Yangtze River Delta Railway’s sea-rail combined transport products has been further improved. The number of dedicated train services has reached 119, effectively serving exports of photovoltaic modules, white household appliances, hardware parts, and other goods; at the same time, efforts are being made to improve transportation organization efficiency and promote increased volume of port-to-port sea-rail combined transport.
