For several years now, a recurring story has appeared periodically in the crypto community: someone sends Bitcoin to an address supposedly belonging to Satoshi Nakamoto. This time, on February 8th, another such event occurred, reigniting the long-standing debate about the creator of Bitcoin.

What happened? Approximately 2.565 BTC (currently about $198,000 at a price of $77.27K per coin) was sent to the address 1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa. This is not just an random wallet – it’s the address that holds the very first reward of Bitcoin received in the genesis block on January 3, 2009. There are already about 57 BTC stored there, and now it has increased further.

Analysts on X immediately noticed the unusual nature of this move. The six-figure amount is not a small tribute of a few satoshis, which enthusiasts sometimes send. It’s a serious deposit, attracting attention and sparking numerous theories. Has Satoshi Nakamoto returned? Is someone signaling to him? Or does someone just want to draw the community’s attention?

One circumstance hindered the matter: the address can receive funds from anyone, but only the owner of the private keys can spend them. And here’s where it gets interesting. Over more than 16 years, not a single satoshi from the supposed Satoshi Nakamoto stash (about 1.1 million BTC worth tens of billions of dollars) has been spent. Not once. This silence either indicates lost keys or a conscious decision to leave everything as it is.

If Satoshi really wanted to communicate something, he could sign a message with his private key or move at least a tiny part of his coins. But that doesn’t happen. Therefore, most analysts believe that this transaction is more of a message to the Bitcoin community rather than from the creator himself.

Such incoming payments to addresses associated with Satoshi Nakamoto happen infrequently, but they are not unprecedented. There have been similar transfers before, including a payment of $1.2 million in 2024. None of them have led to any movement from the address itself.

As long as Satoshi’s coins remain untouched and he does not appear with verifiable proof of his identity, his fate will remain one of the greatest mysteries of the crypto world. This story adds another layer to the mythology surrounding Bitcoin’s creator – intriguing, symbolic, but nothing more.
