An interesting story about Kimball Musk, Elon’s brother, whom most people don’t know at all. Of course, the guy is a billionaire, but he is talked about much less than his famous brother. And recently, he posted on X a message that made people think — criticizing Trump’s tariff policy, calling it a structural tax on American consumers. Funny, isn’t it? His brother Elon is close to Trump, while Kimball opposes him. But this doesn’t create a rift between them; they truly respect and support each other.

Kimball Musk himself is a person who has clearly chosen his own path. 52 years old, with a net worth of about $700 million, mainly thanks to a small stake in Tesla — just 0.04%. Interestingly, despite this, he is better known for his philanthropy and environmental activism than for financial manipulations. And yes, his signature is a cowboy hat, which he almost always wears. It’s his personal style that immediately sets him apart from others.

Looking at the brothers together, there are quite a few similarities. Both were born in Pretoria, and they have similar facial features — square jaw, straight nose, green eyes. Both hold South African, Canadian, and U.S. citizenship. But Kimball Musk appears as a softer, more people-oriented version of his brother. Their story wasn’t easy — along with their younger sister Tosca, who is now 50, they experienced family violence, which led to their parents’ divorce in the late 70s. Later, the family moved to Canada, then to the U.S.

An interesting point: both brothers co-founded Zip2 — a startup that provided business software for the internet. That was in the late 90s, and they managed to sell the company to Compaq for $307 million in 1999. Not bad for a first project, right? Since then, their paths diverged, but Kimball Musk continues to work on his projects, staying out of the media buzz that surrounds Elon.
