I used to feel the itch too—if someone shouted something, I’d go chase it—but it basically meant buying at the peak of emotion and selling amid even greater anxiety.

Later, I simply lowered my expectations: I don’t count on catching every wave, and I don’t fantasize about being faster than the news.
