Coin World News reports that economists from France’s Banque de Paris said that the Middle East conflict’s impact on Japanese consumer product prices remains limited. They noted that companies’ petrochemical costs are rising, but there has been no significant impact on consumer price index data yet, including items such as detergents and cling film. Despite panic buying of petroleum-based household goods at supermarkets and drugstores, the broad-based price increases for these consumer products have not yet materialized. Government data shows that Tokyo consumer prices excluding fresh food rose 1.5% year-on-year in April, compared with a 1.7% increase in March.
