Just came across this interesting survey where they ranked dog breeds by friendliness based on 5,000 owner responses. The results are pretty wild - turns out American Bulldogs scored dead last in friendliness even though they're known for good behavior. Dobermans and Rottweilers also ranked super low, which makes sense given their protective nature. Owners said these breeds are way more likely to be defensive around strangers and less into accepting treats from random people.
On the flip side, Bernese Mountain Dogs absolutely dominated with a perfect score. Golden Retrievers and Labs are basically tied for second - no surprise there since everyone knows they're basically friends with everyone they meet. Even Corgis made the top 3, which is kind of cute considering their size.
What's interesting is that friendliness doesn't always match what you'd expect. Some of the top 25 most popular breeds scored all over the place, and the survey looked at stuff like how they play with other dogs, whether they accept pets from strangers, and how they greet newcomers. The data shows early socialization and training matter way more than just the breed itself. If you're thinking about getting a dog, definitely worth checking where your breed ranks on this friendliness scale.
