just read about congresswoman monica de la cruz introducing a resolution against that border patrol facility attack in mcallen back in july. pretty serious stuff - three people injured including a local police officer. she's been vocal about supporting law enforcement, which tracks with her overall record. so i looked into her background a bit and apparently monica de la cruz net worth sits around 1.7 million as of last year, putting her somewhere in the middle of congress wealth-wise. not crazy rich compared to some of these politicians. what's interesting is she's been pretty active on legislation - got a bunch of bills in the works covering everything from agriculture to veterans benefits. the selena commemorative coin act is kind of a random one lol. speaking of money, her q1 fundraising disclosure showed she pulled in about 552k, mostly from individual donors. spent 539k of that. so monica de la cruz net worth and her political positioning seem pretty aligned with texas representative interests - border security, veterans, local community stuff. her cash on hand was sitting at like 852k at the end of q1. not sure if she's planning a bigger push for reelection or just maintaining steady operations. anyway, the resolution condemning violence against law enforcement passed with 41 co-sponsors, so clearly has bipartisan support on that issue at least.
