Deep Tide TechFlow News, May 1st, Nic Carter wrote that the risks of quantum computing to Bitcoin are difficult to clearly predict through the "canary" mechanism, including incremental difficulty key challenges, quantum bounty addresses, and Satoshi's early coins. He believes that once quantum computers clearly break through the medium-scale ECDLP, the threat to secp256k1 may only be a matter of months, while deploying quantum signature schemes and migrating vulnerable UTXOs on Bitcoin is expected to take several years. Therefore, Bitcoin and other blockchains may need to advance the post-quantum signature transition in advance, even in the absence of clear on-chain signals.
