On May 1, Caixin reported, citing multiple independent sources, that Peng Jing, the founding partner and director of Chongqing Jingsheng Law Firm, has recently been taken away for investigation by relevant authorities. Speculation arises that she may be connected to the case involving the former Chongqing Mayor Hu Henghua and Luo Lin, a member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Liangjiang New Area Committee. Sources from Chongqing’s political and business circles indicate that both Hu Henghua and Luo Lin’s downfall involves bribery and money laundering through stablecoins, with Peng Jing allegedly assisting in fund management under the guise of ‘legal fees.’ Insiders revealed that Lin Kechuang, son-in-law of Lin Xiucheng, had paid Hu Henghua 30.8 million USDT, approximately 210 million yuan. After Hu Henghua was investigated, authorities controlled his cold wallet and further traced the fund flows of six other cold wallets held by Lin Kechuang. One transaction of 15.5 million USDT was reportedly transferred to Luo Lin. Reports indicate that after Luo Lin was taken away, his cold wallet, hidden in a third party’s location, was subsequently seized.
