Just realized something about how Social Security November payments actually work if you're not paying attention. So apparently your birthday determines when you get your check, which I had no idea about until I started digging into this.

Basically if you were born between the 1st and 10th, you'd get your social security november payments on the second Wednesday. For people born 11th to 20th it's the third Wednesday, and if you're born after the 20th you're looking at the fourth Wednesday. Pretty random system honestly.

The weird part is if you get SSI instead of regular Social Security, there's no november payment at all because they send it early in October since November 1st is a Saturday. Then you get the next one in December. And if you somehow get both, the timing gets even messier.

I looked up what people actually receive and it varies a lot based on your work history, but the average seems to be around 2000 a month for retired workers. Spouses get less, like 950 on average. The SSA won't tell you exactly what you're getting until you check your account.

Anyone else confused by how social security november payments schedule works? Or is it just me not understanding why they split it up by birth date instead of just sending everyone's money on the same day. Seems overly complicated but I guess that's government for you.
