Trump to Meet National Security Team to Review Actions on Iran

On April 27, sources reported that U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with senior national security officials today to review the progress of negotiations that have stalled with Iran. Prior to this meeting, he decided to cancel the planned trip of Special Envoys Steve Biegun and Jared Kushner to Pakistan for further talks. Officials will assess the next steps, including whether to resume previously suspended U.S. bombing operations following the recent extension of the ceasefire agreement. Trump stated that the reason for pausing diplomatic efforts was Iran’s failure to present a satisfactory proposal, as well as uncertainties surrounding Tehran’s leadership and negotiating stance.
